2001 – Craggy Mountain Line, Inc., acquires three miles of historic railway through Woodfin to create an excursion train enterprise

2010 – Woodfin Greenway (French Broad and Beaverdam Creek) conceptual design study provided by David Tuch (Equinox) and Gerald Green (N.Focus)

2010 – Silver-Line Plastics donates a 5-acre riverfront parcel just north of their plant for the future Woodfin Town Park

2015 – Advocates for the Whitewater Wave and Woodfin leaders begin discussion of locating the Wave project in Woodfin.

Summer, 2016 – Woodfin Board of Aldermen vote to place $4.5 million general obligation bond referendum on ballot to provide core funding for greenways, Silverline Park, the Wave, and other park/sidewalk improvements

November 8th, 2016 – Woodfin voters approve bond funding by a margin of 71% – 29%.  This provides critical “first” funding for the project to move forward

December, 2016 – Establishment of the “Friends of Woodfin Greenway & Blueway” partnership for fundraising purposes

Winter, 2017 – Fundraising efforts get underway. Design efforts for the Greenway, Wave, and Silver-Line Park elements are funded and get underway.
